Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall
It might sound dull but this is actually one of the most interesting attractions in Shanghai. The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center maps out the development of Shanghai up to 2020. On the ground floor is a model of future development of Shanghai’s Pu River, while the second floor holds photographs and displays of colonial Shanghai, with folders holding pictures and information about every interesting old building in the city. But the highlight is definitely the third floor, where a massive scale model of how all of Shanghai will look in 2020. Additionally there are simulators where you can take a virtual tour through Shanghai and learn about the future of the city’s transport system. There’s something awe-inspiring about seeing a city’s future mapped at to such exactitude. Highly recommended.
